Graham ISD Trustees Call
Nov. 3 School Bond Election

$60 million bond proposal includes new (grades 1-5) elementary school, safety, security, accessibility and CTE projects

District residents will have the opportunity to vote on a single-proposition bond proposal (Prop A) totaling $60 million. It has been 19 years since Graham ISD voters last approved funding to address school facilities.

Projects in the proposed bond package include:

New Grades 1-5 elementary school to replace Crestview & Woodland.

Safety & security projects at Pioneer Elementary, Graham Junior High and Graham High School.

Accessibility and renovation projects at Pioneer Elementary, Graham Junior High and Graham High School, as well as providing updated dressing and locker room facilities for female students.

Projects to renovate and equip CTE programs such as welding, agriculture and culinary arts.

Investing More While Keeping Taxes Low

The District's financial advisor projects that approval of the bond package would result in a debt service tax rate increase of five cents. This is anticipated to equal less than $3 per month on the average valued homestead in GISD.

How the Bond Supports Long-Term Savings

Funding specific projects through bonds, instead of the regular budget, saves money in the general fund to address operating expenses like staff salaries, utilities, fuel and other daily costs. In fact, consolidating elementary grades into fewer buildings will free up more than $640,000 in annual operating funds. The consolidation will not impact teacher jobs because the same number of students in grades 1-5 will be served at one campus instead of two.
